Below is my unaltered initial blogpost where I officially left the 9/11 Truth Movement. There is strong language, which some have even criticized me for, but I felt it was best to keep it in it's original condition to capture the mood I was in when I came to the realization that I had been duped. My name is Mike Metzger, MikeyMetz for short, co-founder of 9/11 Truth UAlbany. I will not go on about my past accomplishments in the "truth" movement, but I invite you to check out the official site and our stuff on GoogleVideo if you're that interested in my background.

I figure the best way to start this all out is by reposting a Facebook note that explains my "sudden change of heart" to anyone who was interested.

Change of Heart?

I might be thinking too much of myself, but I'm sure some of you are already jumping to conclusions over my apparent "change of heart." I can hear it already. "Mikey stopped smoking pot, and now he's ultra-conservative all of sudden." Or, how about "Mikey's fuckin girlfriend changed him overnight."

If there's anyone who simplified my situation using one of these rationalizations immediately upon observing the obvious changes in my profile, I don't think it's too outrageous to claim that you're one who quickly jumps to conclusions. I don't mean to offend anyone (although, I know I am), but I think that statement is rather representative of the entire 9/11 Truth Movement.

My "change of heart" didn't happen overnight. This has been a process that has been eating away at me for the past month and a half. I wanted to act strategically as far as "coming out" as a means to perhaps transition the 9/11 Truth group on campus to one that was less focused on strictly 9/11-related issues (aka more truthful ones). However, I was exposed to something that truly angered me deep down in the wee hours of this morning, which I'll get to later. I was so outraged that I can no longer keep my mouth shut.

For whatever reasons at the time, I no-showed the 8/11 truth action our group was doing in Albany. Instead, I watched a movie called Screw Loose Change. I expected it to point out a few corrections in some minor details of the film. To my surprise, it contested just about every claim in the entire movie. I was a bit shocked.

I was a true believer of all this controlled demolition nonsense for a time. I never cared about the physics or the claims of pseudo-"experts." What always did it for me was the fact that there was never a decent response to any of these questions by the government. Even the hit pieces you'd see on 9/11 were always personal attacks. The mainstream never contested the actual "facts" movies like Loose Change presented.

Or so it seemed. After watching Screw Loose Change, I delved into the world of 9/11 Truth debunking. Among my favorites are the Screw Loose Change Blog and 9/11 Myths Finally, someone was answered all these pertinent questions with something that was a bit foreign to me... facts agreed upon by the experts.

There are no facts in the 9/11 Truth Movement. Just a lot of theories, which eventually break down to "hey, we're just asking questions" if someone questions the validity of such. No structural, civil, or any engineers agree with the truthers. Yet, most of my friends will try to explain the hard physics involved in structural collapses. None of these people are engineers, physicists, or even in a scientific field, for that matter. Someone's supposed to take their word over an expert's?

The truthers will just tell you that all the experts are "in on it." Yeah, sure. Every engineer in the world is complicit in the government's murder of 3,000 people. And so are the firemen, who apparently ordered Larry Silverstein to "pull" Building 7. The truthers' misrepresentation of Silverstein's quote is one of the most popular "facts" to spit out, but in doing so, you are effectively in agreement that firefighters were not only involved in the controlled demolition of WTC7, but they are also aiding and abetting in the government's cover-up. Yeah, every firefighter who was out there on 9/11 is going to be complicit in the MURDER OF 343 OF THEIR FALLEN BROTHERS! To quote Loose Change co-creator Jason Bermas, "the firefighters are paid off."

This is absolute horseshit, which brings me to why I've formally distanced myself from this sorry excuse for a movement. Loose Change, 9/11 Mysteries, Alex Jones, and all the other kooks out there are fucking lying about, distorting, and misrepresenting the facts to further their personal agendas. And what is their agenda, you ask? Money, in the words of Shaggy 2 Dope, "mutha fuckin bitch ass money." Not only are they desecrating 3,000 graves, but they are profiting off of it. That, my friends, makes me sick to my fuckin stomach.

Some may think that this is just a big personal attack, and that I'm not presenting enough facts. I honestly don't give a fuck because the information is out there. I love how all the truthers, myself included for a time, brag about how they've done all the "research." Well my friends, research doesn't involve looking exclusively at other 9/11 conspiracy sites! Research involves looking at things from both sides of the spectrum, and making your own decisions. Check out the links I've listed above, or google "Screw 9/11 Mysteries" and "Screw Loose Change."

Controlled demolitions: absolute bullshit. Now, I know there are some legitimate inconsistencies in the story that can't be proven false. My problem, and your problem as well, is that we have been blatantly misled by people who are only interested in selling dvds and t-shirts. This is supposed to be a truth movement. At this point, Alex Jones could pull every smoking gun out of ass that proves without question that 9/11 was an inside job, but it will never excuse the fact that he had lie so blatantly. Fuck you, fuck avery & bermas, fuck 9/11 mysteries, and fuck every true believer who goes out there and tells people that they've "done their research."

I don't know what the future holds for the student group. For the time being, I'm gonna continue to fill out the paperwork and other such presidential duties because I take my responsibilities and promises very seriously. But you won't see me hand out one more 9/11 pamphlet, or ever utter the phrase "9/11 was an inside job" ever again. I'd personally like to see the group transition away from fringe conspiracy theories and focus more on local issues (God knows, there's enough corruption in Albany, alone), but I might get outvoted by truthers. If that is the case, I cordially invite any of the truthers who think I'm totally wrong to step up and take the reigns. The group is, in part, my creation, but I'll gladly abdicate the throne if all everyone wants to do is continue the truther nonsense.

Oh yeah, what sent me over the edge today? I watched Screw 9/11 Mysteries, which basically adds comments to the original movie. Like Screw Loose Change, every single theory spat out is immediately disproven with formal citations from the NIST report, scientific journals, and the experts themselves. By the end, the whole controlled demolition theory is a complete joke, as the film can't even keep their own story straight.

9/11 Mysteries ends very tragically with a phone call from one of the victims inside the WTC. You may have seen it, it's the guy who's frantically describing the situation to a loved one, but then suddenly, the building starts to collapse and all you hear are his last words, agonizing screams. The creators of this propaganda movie did this intentionally, to play on your emotions right after feeding you all their bullshit theories.

But as I watched this film again, this time with the annotations, I knew that the creators of this movie used that poor guy's dying moments for their own selfish gains of selling dvds and perpetuating myths that do nothing but denigrate the lives lost on 9/11/01.

Change of heart? My heart's always been in the right place. I was just cheating myself of making an informed judgment on all the information available.

Hey guys, I'm back. Sorry, I just can no longer waste my time in this stupid internet debate.

Today, Justin Martell posted another blog entry about me on 9/11 Blogger. In it, he calls me out for not answering his big bad challenge. Took you long enough, Justin. I've been waiting for another front page Blogger story about me for about a month now.

Here was my response to Justin via email this morning:

Great to see I'm still getting coverage on truther sites. As you can probably tell, I've grown tired of the whole 9/11 debate. It's essentially useless, considering that the "revolution" is relegated to a discussion on the Internet. I'm moving on with my life, rather than waste time on your non-movement. I'm glad my story helped many out there who were caught up in the lies of Truth Movement charlatans (unfortunately, you were not one of them), but that's really all I can do. Until the truth movement accomplishes anything significant at all, which looks to be never, I won't be doing much "debunking." I would still like to debate, however.

I will be free this Monday and Tuesday, the 24th and 25th all day, so I will gladly call into your radio show or whatever it is. Please give me a set date/time and a number to use to call in. And if I don't call in, then I guess you will be the ultimate winner of the "interwebz 9/11 truth debate."

And Justin, it's nothing personal really. I really don't feel any animosity toward friends of mine who are still caught up in 9/11 Truth. I do hold animosity toward the charlatans of this movement, however, who are using the tragic death of 3,000 people as a platform for dvd sales, speaking engagements, and internet fame. Justin, I think you have parted ways with reality long ago, and now desire to be one of those charlatans. Take that for what you will.

Yes, because those dashing internet revolutionaries are such beacons of free speech. If you really want to, you can check out my comments in the post to see if they were justified in banning me. I think you guys already know the obvious answer to that question.

As for the future, I don't know how much longer I'm going to waste my time on this stupid internet debate. I'll try to post some thoughts or something when I'm up to it, but we'll see what happens.

So Justin Martelll has challenged me to a debate. Since he's young, he assumed that MySpace would be the best place to lay out the actual challenge (despite me posting here more regularly), but I really have better things to do with my time than surf around on MySpace. I actually found out about it on 9/11 Blogger, which covers this as "news," although I never remember them covering my Letter of Resignation back in September.

Here's the challenge:

Would you be interested in debating Mike Jackman and I on a radio show next Friday? We promise to give you equal time, etc. The topic I'd like to discuss is whether or not the 9/11 Commission provided "the fullest possible account of the events surrounding 9/11," and whether or not the commission, along with individuals and departments within our government are participating in a cover up in regard to 9/11.

If this sounds like something that interests you please message me back. However, if you're just going to spend the hour attacking my character and making unfounded accusations that I have somehow been a incompetent leader of www. sst911. org then you need not bother.

The Delusional & The Defeated

Super Tuesday is in the books, and we got to see the Ron Paul REVOlution fizzle out and die on live TV! Don't tell that to the troofers and Paulestinians, though. According to beacon of "truth" PrisonPlanet.com, "Ron Paul Had a Great Super Tuesday."

Last night on Super Tuesday, Ron Paul won some modest second and third place finishes. But more importantly he remained in a GOP race that continues to be wide open.

So what he's trying to say here is that Paul didn't place dead last in every single race. Sure, he took last place in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California (he even lost to Giuliani there), Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and West Virginia... but who's really counting anyway? I mean, Paul only finished dead last in 17 out of 22 possible states.

The other candidates are running out of money. Huckabee may push for his V.P. spot soon. Romney may reconsider his prospects and quit. McCain was bruised and battered yesterday despite his naked assertions that he is the front-runner.

Wait, I thought he just said the race was wide open? Okay, let's go with it, anyway. Huckabee and Romney may very well be down and out at this point. But, did he just say McCain was bruised and battered yesterday? Umm, perhaps I should list the current delegate count:

McCain: 680
Romney: 270
Huckabee: 176
Paul: 16

How much pot do you have to smoke to believe that these numbers suggest "naked assertions" that McCain is the front-runner? He has more than half of the delegates needed to win, gaining many of these delegates as a result of last night's primaries! Well, at least this guy looks at the glass half-full.

The rest of the Paulestinians are convinced that last night reeked of election fraud. Some posters at the Ron Paul War Room can't seem to comprehend that votes in online polls don't translate into actual votes. Just about everyone else is crying foul about the evil Diebold voting machines. Ah, denial-- the best defense against reality.

Surprisingly enough, the most optimistic development for sanity involves the Paul followers who now feel completely defeated. Check out this quote:

Stupid Troofer Video of the Day

Here's another one from the creator of "Fool Me Twice," a CT documentary about the Bali Bombings of 2002. (Jesus, does everything have to be a conspiracy with these people?)

Of course we start out with football, bar-hopping, and other such activities normal people participate in. Unfortunately, troofers have no sense of humor nor any sense of satisfaction in their lives whatsoever, so they must demonize anything in life that's actually fun.

Then they attack the media, and say it's a conspiracy that all we hear about is Britney Spears. Have troofers ever heard of the concept of "supply and demand?" Can they, for once, comprehend that there is not some puppetmaster pulling the strings, and that the news outlets are pandering to the "infotainment" news that average people are actually interested in and will pay money for? It's a sad state of affairs, yes, but the populist troofers are just not in touch with majority of people out there.

At 1:15: "Do you think media owners strive to inform you, or sell you entertainment for profit? Are these distractions stopping you from questioning why politicians would deliberately lie..."

The very next clip is a NEWS REPORT (yes, from the "evil" media) about the latest Bildeberg Group meeting, probably taken right from "Endgame." We all know that troofers are walking contradictions, but this is getting ridiculous.

The REVOlution Rises from the Dead!

The newest "celebrity" endorsement for Rep. Ron Paul is none other than...

KANE!!! That's right, the WWF superstar who rose from the dead after his half-brother, The Undertaker, set his parent's funeral home on fire and killed the rest of his family! Kane is the son of Paul Bearer, who had extra-marital relations with the Undertaker's mother.

Kane's adolescence also came under fire back in 2002, when it was alleged he had been drunk driving and killed friend Katie Vick in a car accident after a high school party (Most thought he was still dead, at the time). This allegation was made by none other than Triple H, as he raped Vick's dead body!

Kane is just the latest pro wrestler to endorse a Presidential candidate. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair has endorsed Mike Huckabee and Hulk Hogan supports Barrack Obama.

Now, I know that the political endorsements of fake wrestlers hold much weight to the American populace, but I'm going to have to go with fake boxer Rocky Balboa's support of John McCain!

Why We Fight

This is in response to Diane from the Loose Change forums:

What motivates you to spend so much time defending the official story? Why is this personally important to you?

On both sides, I've noticed a tendency to perceive the other side as dishonest or worse. Perhaps if we understood each other's feelings and motives better, we might be less inclined to assume the worst about each other?

Well first off, I don't support any "official story," I support the mountains of evidence in favor of what actually happened on 9/11: 19 Arab highjackers took over planes with boxcutters and caught America with its pants down.

I think this person's question illustrates the fact that troofers can't comprehend simple disagreement with their CTs. If you don't agree with them, you obviously haven't done your "research." If you're so interested in finding out the motives of debunkers, I must ask you to rejoin us in the real world for a moment. Let's just assume that the "official theory" is the most accurate description of events.

In this case, the 9/11 Troofers:

-- Accuse several innocent people in the mass murder of 3,000 Americans
-- Give Muslim extremists a complete pass
-- Give the rest of the world more reason to hate America
-- Give Americans more reason to despise their government
-- Piss on the graves of the 9/11 victims (i.e. Passengers on Flight 93)
-- Rewrite history to suit your "blame America first" political agenda
(Imagine those high school history students googling 9/11 for a paper, and thinking your CTs are the real deal.)

These are things that rational people consider before throwing out kooky CTs with little to no evidence. Truthers may have their right to free speech, but it doesn't mean your views can't be challenged. I'm sure this explains, more or less, why debunkers do what they do.

Why do I do it? To try to encourage those who sit on the fence or who are even actively involved to stop wasting their time. I spent over a year of my life dedicated to these CTs, and I can't tell you how many nights I wish I could have back, where I was stressing over "not doing enough for the movement." Luckily for me, I realized it was all a farce before any permanent damage was done. I know others who are not that lucky, and have already began to throw away their lives completely in the name of these CTs.

So there you have it. You can go back into your fantasy world now, or you can challenge yourself intellectually and stay here in reality with the rest of us.

UPDATE 2/03 1:36AM: I decided to be fair and post this on the Loose Change forum, and within a couple of hours I was banned. Apparently the above post was too real for the troofers, I guess. Haha, so much for "freedom of speech."

Centrism & Maturity

When I was a troofer, I always felt I had to maintain a far-right, libertarian line of thinking. Even before, when I was a only a college liberal, I still thought I had to be a liberal on every single issue.

They have these stupid "Political Meter" quizzes on sites like Facebook, where you answer 10 whole hypothetical questions, and then ::POOF::, you are labeled a particular political type. Liberal, Libertarian, Conservative, or Socialist?

I started to notice that other hardcore activists were registering completely "liberal" and hardcore Ron Paul supporters were registering "libertarian" to the extreme. I began to realize that I wasn't alone in my extremist line of thinking. You feel you have to follow this line of thinking, so you answer these 10 whole questions the way you feel it suits your chosen political affiliation, and then post your "liberal" or whatever badge on your Facebook.

After awakening from trooferdom, I realized that this is a clear sign of immaturity... or a sign of just being batshit insane! Think about it, it's not cool to be a centrist/moderate. It's actually pretty lame if you're on a college campus where everyone is required to hate the President. To the troofers, of course, being a centrist is a conspiracy because of the oh so feared "left-right paradigm." They'll say, "Moderates are sheep who watch CNN!"

Now I see that being a moderate, no matter which side you actually fall on, is quite normal. The overwhelming majority of Americans paint the picture, just look at elections over our history-- When we get sick of conservatives we elect a liberal, and vice versa. Even on the personal level, one will find that both sides have good points on certain issues.

If only the troofers could realize that Islamic extremism is real, maybe they could learn a lesson or two.

9/11 Myths Updated

Hey everyone. I just have to say I still can't believe the popularity of my blog. I've been posting once a month at best, and yet I come to see a full box of comments. I've wanted to kick this blog into high gear for a few months now, and since I've graduated college and have taken a full month off to rest and recover, it's time for the Ex-Truther to be updated DAILY! That's right, every single day I will dedicate at least a few minutes of my life to expose the "truth" movement for the fraud it is!

First off, I must give huge thanks to Mark Roberts for plugging this blog so prominently on his excellent Links for 9/11 Research. The site is one of the top debunking sites, and a must read if you haven't already (for anyone out there who found me without being linked here by Mark).

Another site which helped me out of the troof hole is 9/11 Myths, which has recently been updated with a whole new Wikipedia-esque format. There's a great new article entitled, "Cheney in charge of NORAD" which is a must-read.

I feel especially compelled to post that Cheney link because 9/11 Truth UAlbany's pamphlet spread disinformation that needs to be corrected. From the pamphlet:

In May of 2001, Dick Cheney was given command of all wargames and drills. On 9/11, 15 war games were being held. Several wargames took planes away from the East Coast to fight an imaginary invasion. This left only 8 fighters to defend the East Coast. And they fly in pairs.

I did not write the above pamphlet, but it was compiled using information from Michael Ruppert's Crossing the Rubicon. The Cheney page at 9/11 Myths goes into more detail:

Ruppert places great weight on the talk of “planning and training”, but those words occur in this context (from the above link):
Today, numerous Federal departments and agencies have programs to deal with the consequences of a potential use of a chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear weapon in the United States. Many of these Federal programs offer training, planning, and assistance to state and local governments. But to maximize their effectiveness, these efforts need to be seamlessly integrated, harmonious, and comprehensive.

So the mandate is talking about planning and training that relates to “programs to deal with the consequences of a potential use of a chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear weapon in the United States” (our emphasis). It’s disaster planning, not NORAD exercises.

Yet, all you'll hear from the truthers is "Dick Cheney ordered NORAD to stand down! Do your research."

Iowa Caucus

Well, Huckabee and Obama are the big winners tonight. Not much of a surprise, as it was a toss-up going in, but what was surprising were the margins of victory for these two. Right now, the Huckabee win is looking like a fluke, but Obama is starting to look like the next President of the United States. Time will tell, though.

Which brings me to Ron Paul. Okay, the guy broke the 10% mark. This is somewhat impressive, but the official Ex-Truther interpretation of this is that the 4.6% lunatic fringe joined up with about 5% of the marginally less lunatic fringe. I'd say a lot of Paul supporters are closet ex-truthers and people on the fringe who thought that the 9/11 stuff was just kooky, and this looks to be the case. I'm guessing Paul will probably perform similarly in the remainder of the primaries, before he takes his money and runs.

Ya gotta admire the dedication of the Paulites, but it's just not going to translate to votes from more fair-minded, centrist voters. The American people want change, but they certainly don't want a kook who wants to ditch the Board of Education and the IRS, with the baggage of his lunatic followers who expect a lot more nuttery out of the guy.

It may work for the truthers and John Birch right-wing types, and even the kids who think he's going to legalize drugs, but as the first official results show, "10% of Americans are completely retarded," to paraphrase Kyle from South Park.

9/11 Troof = DOA; Onto Other Topics

I apologize for the lack of updates recently. I can make excuses about how I've been extremely busy, but the fact of the matter is that the 9/11 Truth Movement is all but dead. I had this feeling approaching the 6th Anniversary when I was still a truther, and I think this belief has been confirmed over the last few months. Face the facts, troofers:

-- Extremely low turnout at Ground Zero on 9/11/07
-- The 4.6% truther number in your own Zogby Poll
-- The non-event that was Loose Change: Final Cut
-- The lack of any new "evidence" brought forth by the truthers
-- Alex Jones' "doomsday" scenario not playing out
-- Plus, much more I can't name off the top of my head

Consequently, I would like to broaden the focus of this blog to other topics. I want the contents of this website to reflect the reformed opinions of a level-headed, critically thinking ex-truther. I know that my base might be small, but I would like to offer a helping hand to the few ex-truthers out there who find this page.

After losing a lot of my close friends over my defection from the troof, I found comfort in doing some reading about cults and the typical behavior present when one leaves. By covering other topics and some troofer news as well, it's my sincere hope that this blog can serve as a helpful intervention to those in the movement who are coming to their senses, but are afraid to take the next step.

Congratulations to the man who calls himself Diagoras, for jumping off the sinking ship that is the 9/11 "truth" movement. I know exactly where you're coming from, my friend. Some excerpts:

I had to at least look at the claims of the opposition in detail, to see if I could refute their arguments and to see if maybe possibly I might be mistaken. Same here. As mentioned earlier on this blog, the main aspect of 9/11 Truth that always did it for me was the fact that no one seemed to challenge the conspiracy theories, and those who did were only relying upon personal attacks. Or, so it seemed.

I've been pondering why I never sought out the opposition's claims, but I couldn't organize it into a logical thought like you have. I was afraid! Being a trustful person(and perhaps naive, at times), I've always felt I was prone to accepting things blindly as facts from people whom I felt were trustworthy sources. Now I know for sure: I was afraid of being "sucked into being a government dupe again," in your words.

When I looked carefully at the conspiracy debunking sites, they made a lot of sense. I couldn't refute their arguments after all. And it seemed so much more plausible, once I actually saw that the "holes" in the official story weren't what I thought they were. Looking back, it seems absolutely crazy that I could have bought it hook, line and sinker like I did. I try to be skeptical and to not let my emotions get in the way of analyzing the facts wherever possible, but apparently I failed at that. Luckily I got better and with a dose of rationality I've been cured of the conspiracy delusion.

I went through a very similar process, myself. Doesn't it annoy you how the truthers are now claiming that you're some type of disinfo agent, or that you formulate your opinion based solely on movies?

What also helped was quitting pot. I don't know if the same goes for you, but my personal observation is that most truthers are total potheads. A different breed than your typical pothead-- they can remain somewhat coherent and actually engage in activity if compelled enough. They think that they have a rare ability to work through their highs, and in some cases it's true. Unfortunately for them, they neglect to realize the effects that chronic pot-smoking has on reasoning, critical thinking, and outright paranoid delusions.

All in all, kudos, Diagoras. Ex-Truther is not just about Mikey Metz, it's a growing phenomenon, so feel free to express your opinions here. You are more than welcome to.

Truthers Strike Back!

Or I guess this should be called "The Trutherix" or "T for Truther," since those movies fit better for their worldview. I found it interesting that those in support of my blog were complimenting me with the likes of, "Welcome back from the dark side, Anakin," while the truthers were attempting to confine me to their fantasy world with, "Once you take the red pill, THEREZ NO GONE BACK!!1!" But I digress...

I was bored the other day and started bashing truthers on Blogger, and my words seem to have incited one truther to respond to my post... or well, snippets from various posts in no particular order, but more on that later.

1) The identities are in doubt, yet the government refused to correct them, or to admit they were unsure.

People whose photos appeared as the FBI's hijackers turned up alive. This is very strange.

Most "truthers" agree they existed, at least some number of them anyway. The "turning up alive" reports aren't all "debunked." Some had their identities stolen. So they actually were alive, so who was it that was supposed to be on the plane?

The other difficult part about the "hijackers" is that NONE OF THEM WERE RELIGIOUS. Why kill yourself "for Islam" if you're not even religious, and you ignore all your religious customs and dictates?

And yet another difficult problem about the hijackers is the drug smuggling that Daniel Hopsicker reported on at Huffman Aviation. Hopsicker ties Huffman aircraft back to the CIA, and to other aircraft used smuggling narcotics that met up with truncated flight plans in Mexico.

Yeah, and all your "proof" involves one or two articles that came out in the weeks immediately after the attacks. Turns out the name Mohammed and various surnames are pretty common in the Muslim world? Identities stolen? Ha, show me your "proof."

Same goes for your "explosive evidence" that they weren't religious. The only link you do provide is for this Hopsicker guy, who has nothing to do with the topic at hand. And your link doesn't even go to a direct post, but rather the main page of what looks to be another truther website. So much for your "research" and "evidence."

Well, I certainly believe all those eye witnesses talking about "explosions", "bombs in the buildings", "secondary devices" and other euphamisms. See this video:

Why would all those people lie? Or, conversely, what exploded? (There was no natural gas in the towers.)

Most of your "witnesses" had their quotes taken out of context and completely misrepresented to fit your little theory. What about all the witnesses who claim these quotes were taken out of context? And even if witnesses do stick by the fact they heard explosions, so be it. Sure, someone can hear what they think is an explosion, but does that prove it to be so?

What exploded? Perhaps your ADHD is at it again, and you forgot that a commercial jetliner crashed through the building at 500 miles an hour! What about the raging inferno, caused by the jet fuel, which fell down the elevator shaft? Could it be that blazing elevator cars were falling from 1,000 feet and made a loud boom sound? I guess that wouldn't fit your little theory, so like every other fact in the world, its ignored.

"[Silverstein] got paid. It probably went into his company, for which he is a major shareholder. What's the point of that one?"

I love you truthers. Again, you take a quote out of context and make it seem like the point I'm arguing is that Larry got all the money for himself. OF COURSE, the payout went to his company... you know, to REBUILD. But again, you leave that point out. Again, in perhaps a language you can understand, SILVERSTEIN LOST MON$$$$EY ON THE DEALIOLOLOLOL!1!1!

As for BBC, they covered it up for five years, remember. Then they pretended they never knew about it (lie), which is impossible because as soon as their transmission mysteriously was cut over the satellite, the real building 7 went down in a blaze of glory. This was noticed immediately by BBC's reporter. They then -- when finally confronted over it -- said "We're not part of the conspiracy" in addition to claiming they lost the tapes (so they wouldn't have to apologize for it on the air). I do not trust the BBC. They doth protest too much.

They didn't cover anything up for 5 years. This video only surfaced among truthers this past February. You guys are so desperate to cherrypick and find any "evidence," that it seems like you searched the archives for months and found something you could come up with an elaborate explanation for.

Perhaps it was just the fact that it was fucking 9/11 and utter chaos in newsrooms throughout the world. You know, occam's razor-- the reporter was human and made a mistake in the confusion of the day? Could you identify Building 7 before you became a truther? If anything, the BBC report just confirms the fact that it was popular belief that the building was obviously unstable and in danger of coming down.

Dr. Steven Jones certainly has not ignored science or logic.

Dr. Jones' hard evidence of microscopic "steel spherules" in the dust of the WTC event is powerful stuff. Spheres like that could only have been formed in a molten state. They are corroborated by a US Geological Survey report.

Too bad Jones is a physicist, and not a structural engineer. You also mentioned Kevin Ryan, but I won't even quote that because he's just a lowly water tester. If Jones' work is 100% scientific, why won't any other structural engineer in the world back up his claims and, you know, peer-review his findings?

Yes, and the spheres... Wow, they're both round! Groundbreaking stuff. Molten state? Yeah, there were molten metals, but that doesn't mean it was molten steel. Planes are made of aluminum, you know.

As for demolition, there are strong grounds for suspecting it, including Griffin's "10 features" of controlled demolition. Couple that with the inverse, that these 10 features have NEVER been seen in any case other than a controlled demolition, never in history. That is at least enough to make it possible, if not proven.

Yes, but Griffin's 10 features all take place in the wrong order and over 90 minutes. The aspects all occur within a few seconds during a CD. Already brought it up here, but I guess you didn't read my blog as thoroughly as you thought.

And just because something is probable does not make it proven. You and Mike Ruppert would make good friends. Maybe you didn't know that, and that's why you're still wrapped up in all these conspiracy theories.

Danny Jowenko, who owns a controlled demolition company, looked at WTC7 and said, "This is controlled demolition." "It's been imploded." "A team of experts did this."

Is this the Dutch guy who watched it on TV? What about all the experts who actually had pieces of debris to analyze? What about every American engineer who has seen the collapse in the proper context who disagrees with you?

You really do ramble around mentally.

Yes, as you cherrypick random quotes from different blog entries and post them in a rambling style all your own. Responding to your post has been extremely tedious, and I have a finance exam to study for. Because, you know, some of us have lives of our own and the ambition to excel(and not just panic about doomsday). You, my friend, are stuck in a lost cause.

So make your own pamphlet. Why is this such a difficult solution for you to come up with? Make your own movie. You already made your own blog. It doesn't enlighten, however.

You forget that I'm co-founder of 9/11 Truth UAlbany, the first 9/11 truth campus group to be officially recognized and funded by the university. What are your credentials?

This is exactly my problem with the "truth" movement. You guys pile on so much BS like all the long-debunked claims in this very response and add it in with one or two legitimate facts like "bin Laden is not wanted for 9/11" and you think your case is astronomical. If it was, it'd be brought to trial right now by one of the victims. You guys can't even agree on anything within your movement! Hey Noah, nice to finally hear from you. I’m glad you would consider yourself a friend of mine, but last I checked, friends don’t just move across the country without telling anyone. I left you voicemail after voicemail, the later ones just asking if you were all right, but no response until now. I used to jokingly tell Nancy Machold, head of the volunteer office that authorized the college credits we were offering, that you were my top pupil. Well, it genuinely hurt me when you bounced like that.

I felt like a failure as any type of leader. This was just one instance of my constant self-loathing while involved in 9/11 Truth. I don’t think it was just me, either. Since you left, so many other people did too. Always still believing in the movement, just leaving for whatever reason. Glad to know you’re still breathing air. My last memory of you involves you critiquing me for taking shitty pictures on your camera, taking a shot at me for being short.

My question for you is where do you stand now? Do you still support a new investigation? Do you now believe that 19 muslims with box cutters did this? Do you believe everything that you see on TV and in movies? Are you physically capable of forming your OWN opinion? You have me quite confused.

Why is it so hard to believe that 19 hijackers with box cutters did this? What proof did we ever have that says these people didn’t exist, besides long-debunked reports that they were turning up alive?

I don’t believe controlled demolitions are involved. I don’t believe a missile hit the Pentagon. (see pic below) I do believe there was a plane in Shanksville. I don’t believe Larry Silverstein walked away with $4.6 billion for himself. I don’t believe that the FDNY Commissioner told Silverstein that the FDNY was going to “pull” Building 7. I don’t believe that CNN and the BBC had a script. I don’t believe the fact that 19 hijackers with boxcutters did this is so unbelievable.

Are these not the main points of the 9/11 Truth Movement? Demolitions, Building 7, Silverstein, Pentagon Missile, media complicity? I know there’s more, but it’s a bit misleading to sink people in by throwing out these outrageous theories that ignore science, logic, and the blackboxes of the planes, and only then present the “solid” stuff.

What really hurts me the most Mike, is to hear that you "wasted a year of your life". Does that mean that the friendships you made over that year were a waste too? I'd hate to think that. Was it a waste of time for us to work in solidarity with all of those other groups on campus too - The Greens, Killer Coke, Students for Workers Right, etc? Were those nights we hung out at my apartment drinking beers until sunrise discussing how we wanted to make the world a better place for everyone a waste too? If that is so Mike, then you my friend are the one who duped me into believing that you were an intelligent caring human being, capable of making his own decisions, and forming his own rational opinions.

You’re right. The “wasted a year of my life” tagline is not true. But I am a marketing major, so I knew that would get people’s attention. I’m very grateful of all the great people I’ve met and become friends with over the past year. The Albany truthers are a rare breed and I think the vast majority of truthers out there gave us a bad name.

You bring up all the other groups we worked with, but think of it this way: Think of all the time we wasted talking about wacky conspiracy theories on a national and international level, while all these groups were taking real action at the local level? I was on the New York Public Interest Research Group’s (NYPIRG) statewide board of directors before I was convinced to quit altogether because they didn’t tackle “real issues.” I really regret that.

I don’t, however, regret what we built at UAlbany. We were the real deal—truth seekers. I think it’s unfortunate that our guys have invested themselves in 9/11 truth so much. There are so many other issues that coincide with our Constitutional views which we could’ve been working on.

So you disagree with some of the stuff in Loose Change and 9/11 Mysteries - I do too, but that doesn't mean that it's all wrong either. It also doesn’t mean that they were trying to “dupe” you, or present lies to make movie sales.

But they are “duping” people. Both movies misquoted people not by accident, but by specifically clipping out things they said that didn’t match their theory. 9/11 Mysteries lied about Silverstein’s “7 billion dollar” payout. Why won’t any truther admit that Silverstein has had to pay $120 million per year rent just to keep the property? Why is profit motive so short-sighted that truthers don’t even ask the obvious question: Doesn’t he have to use that money to rebuild? It’s just “Larry Silverstein made $4.6 billion off of 9/11, period.”

This is just one example. Why can’t 9/11 Mysteries even keep its own story straight? First, it’s obviously an implosion because it fell in its own footprint, then it’s an explosion because debris went flying out due to all the bombs, and then within 10 minutes, they’re back to the implosion with the freefall stuff? The whole film builds up to their theory on the aspects of the demolition, but they’re all out of order and would only have been seconds apart, not the 90 minutes in the case of the WTC. You’d think they’d put in a little more research on how a controlled demolition actually works, but then maybe they wouldn’t have a movie to sell.

If you remember correctly, it was me who urged you all (SUNY Albany Truthers) to watch Screw Loose Change sometime last year. I said that in order to find the truth - whatever that may be - you need to look at every side of the story. You didn’t want to look into anything other than whatever your hero Alex Jones had to say. This movement isn’t “led” by anyone, and we all have different opinions as to what happened on 9/11. For you to blindly follow someone like Alex Jones without looking into both sides is irresponsible anyways. I have issues with the Truth Movement as well at times, and I do my best to address those issues in order to move forward – but throwing out blind attacks will get you nowhere.

I totally forgot you had made that suggestion until I read this. Noah, you were always my favorite truther. But honestly, how many people took your advice? How many people in the movement look outside the truther stuff? If you believe in the truther logic, you can’t look outside because everyone else is in on it.

I did blindly follow Alex Jones and I’m not ashamed to admit it. It was irresponsible and I apologize to you and every other member of our group. The guy is very charismatic, and I’m not the only one who has fallen for his charms. Noah, please don’t be so naïve as to believe that there are no leaders. Just look at the WeAreChange event on 9/11/07. I wasn’t there, but I heard about lots of elitism from the usual suspects. Alex Jones will never admit it outright, but come on, he always reminds everyone that he was the first to call it.

Are you saying "fuck you" to me as well? I have done my own research as well, and I had been years before I had met you, and long before Loose Change had even been created. My research did not just consist of Infowars archives - it came from all types of sources, mainstream and underground. Shit Mike, I had already read the Debunking the 9/11 Myths put out by Popular Mechanics before YOU had even heard of Loose Change. I told you about 9/11 Myths a long time ago - It's not my fault you didn't want to look at other facts. Perhaps you should have spent less time yelling at traffic through bullhorns, and sat down and did some independent thinking and research.

Noah, you’re an exception. Like I said earlier, the guys we had in Albany are above the rest. A lot of them, like you, have done their research. I’m glad you have looked at the other side, but doesn’t it bother you how much you’ve been misled? Let me restate that, doesn’t it bother you how much your average Joe Truther is being misled? Do you really think all these truthers you see on myspace are looking at both sides?

If this were a real truth movement, why not shed light on the aspects of this theory that have been debunked? Why yell “9/11 was an inside job!” if you’re “just asking questions?” Why not address the 4.6% MIHOPer statistic from the latest poll and try to work on bringing the number up?

What the hell did Dylan and Jason ever do to you? - Oh right, they came out and spoke at our school twice, and they made TONS of money too - Oh wait, no they didn't, they didn't sell anything. They didn't charge us anything - In fact, they brought free copies of Loose Change for everyone who came.

First off, I don’t remember them coming twice. Can you refresh my memory of this second time that you and Dylan both speak of? And you’re right. They didn’t charge a speaking fee and they didn’t sell anything… that night. But what about the 50,000 copies they have sold? (which Dylan admits on the LCF) 50,000 copies x $20 = $1 million. I wonder how much they’ve made on t-shirts.

Couldn’t you see what they were doing? It’s a hard sell to put a price tag on the truth (just ask the WeAreChange kids), so with a video like that, they had to offer the truth for free. This made it spread virally, while making at least a cool mil in the process. Now, they have their names out there and 9/11 Truth groups (or Loose Change street teams, as I like to call them) spreading their message throughout the country.

What was this to lead to? None other than that nationwide theatrical release of Loose Change Final Cut, where truthers would have to pay $10 a ticket for their dose of truth. But we all know what happened with that. Now, they’ll settle for another quick million at least and probably update the “Investigate” shirts to make another buck.

Mike - you are certainly entitled to your own opinion, it is your right to do so. But placing blame on others for your lack of research is inexcusable. If your beliefs are so easily manipulated just by watching a movie or two, then you have real issues, and that would lead me to believe that you are incapable of thinking for yourself. I certainly hope that is untrue, because I always thought that you were a very intelligent person, capable of independent thinking. I’m not sure if you are just angry in general and looking for something or someone to lash out at – but doing so in a manner like this will inevitably get you nowhere.

Well I’m glad you put that “inevitably” in there because my little facebook post is now all over the web. Internet fame wasn’t in mind when I wrote it, just wanted it to reach SLC as a form of thanks. Hell, even you came out of the woodwork over it. I’ve actually been happier than ever since I quit smoking pot. No, I haven’t become a militant ex-smoker. Everyone’s entitled to do what they want, I just didn’t like who I was when I was high. I’m once again taking school seriously and am planning to graduate this December. So, look’s like I’m going somewhere come 2008.

I hope that you continue to search for the truth Mike. I urge you to look beyond dvds and websites either supporting or debunking 9/11 Truth – There is a much bigger picture than just that out there – and the truth is - We may never know what really happened on 9/11, not one of us on either side holds the key to unlocking the “Truth”. That my friend is for you to decide for yourself.

I'd just like to thank everyone for reading my previous post. I'm very grateful for all the kind things everyone had to say.. Here's a few responses to some of the comments my rant has received on this blog.

“Good luck. Since you got personally closer to individual "truthers" it's possible you may suffer personal attacks. And not just from those you know, but from "friends of friends".”

“Also, I know you've opened yourself to extraordinary malicious attacking by these people. That's a brave thing to do, considering the immaturity of their anger. I don't envy your position. Good luck.”

I’m really hoping that it won’t come to that. I have no plans to bring personal issues into the fray. (Well, except for responses to people I know who bring up personal issues. I mean, these guys are still my friends, I even live with one of them. Although, I am upset that some of my friends dragged me into this, I know it’s not their fault; They’ve been misled, also. I’m hoping I can show them the light.

I am truly sorry that my actions as a “truther” deeply upset you. It was never my intent to spread lies about what happened on 9/11. Like all truthers, I truly believed I was doing the victims a favor by asking those questions. But, I was wrong to do so without doing my own research. I cannot imagine the torment caused to a family member of a Flight 93 victim, for instance, trying to be told that it was shot down or there was no plane to begin with. It’s completely wrong to try to downplay the heroism of these victims, by saying that “boxcutters are a joke” or the “let’s roll” remark was just a govt. psy-op to invoke patriotism.

As far as putting more effort toward “countering my lies,” I’m really torn. As mentioned earlier, those guys are still my friends and I just can’t picture myself following them around and discrediting them as they’re handing out their pamphlets. My hope is to attempt to show them the light, but some of them are so invested into it, I’m not expecting too much. For now, I’m going to try and stay consistent with this blog to take down the real culprits—the heads of the movement who are lying.

I have not turned into an ultra-conservative, it was simply a theoretical response I may get from friends. I still believe the war was fought under false pretenses. It may be a bit of a stretch, but let me try to relate the Iraq War with 9/11 Truth.

Truthers will readily admit now that Loose Change is garbage, and instead point you to other documentaries. Even the Loose Change guys admit this by totally retracting “facts” such as their airphones from their latest edition of the “truth.” Now, this is a raw number, but I’d say 3/4ths of truthers became truthers because of Loose Change, specifically. Believing all the hype in controlled demolition and CIA phone calls from the planes caused them to take action. But now these claims have been thoroughly debunked, what do they do? They find “new” evidence as to why they should keep fighting.

Don’t know if that logic’s really solid, but I’m working on it.. Just want to move on at this point.

In my original rant, I stated that there were some inconsistencies in the official story that couldn’t be disproven (or haven’t been disproven yet). Unfortunately for the truthers, whom are mostly in the MIHOP camp, these inconsistencies lean more toward LIHOP. It’s some research I’ve yet to do, but look forward to doing so in the future. And the 9/11 Truth Movement has EVERYTHING to do with the controlled demolition theory. Especially in the case of Building 7, this is the “smoking gun” that truthers point to and the subject matter of the most popular truther movies. How many truthers do you know simply point out the warnings and other “solid stuff” when soliciting people with the “truth?” Maybe some food for thought on how you guys can be a more truthful movement.

Thanks for posting this, Mike. As was said above, it takes courage to say "I was fooled." You're an honorable guy.

I've had over a hundred people email me thanking me for making information available that helped them examine the 9/11 truth movement's claims. At the JREF forum where I post, several debunkers are former 9/11 conspiracy believers. I think you'll find that there's a lot more rationality and research on this "side of the fence."

Thank you, Mark. I apologize for not giving you the proper thanks you deserve for my change in thinking. Your debate with Alex Jones at Ground Zero on 9/11/06 was very eye opening in exposing Jones for the fraud he is. He could not answer your questions, and only responded with very childlike responses, such as yelling out “strawman,” incorrectly might I add, and accusing you of being a govt. agent.

This guy’s always been ripped to shreds in the comments. I would just like to clarify that it was not these two movies alone that changed my mind. I spent a month and a half in between “Screw Loose Change” and “Screw 9/11 Mysteries” in looking at the argument from my unique perspective of having been on “both sides of the fence.” I’ll admit whole-heartedly that I never did my own research as a truther. I was fortunate (or unfortunate, I guess) enough to have friends who were doing their own research and telling me their findings.

I was so emotionally struck by “Martial Law” and “9/11 Mysteries,” that I readily accepted anything else on the subject as fact, especially since I was getting the info from trusted friends. I’m going out on a limb here, but my guess is that this is same story for the overwhelming majority of truthers. How many of them do you think actually read the 9/11 Commission or NIST reports? If that were the case, you’d hear a lot more than the typical “parroting” found in the movement. Like maybe people thinking and speaking for themselves perhaps.

“Very little more than personal attacks?” Maybe, if you ignore that blatant misquoting of people, like the WTC construction guy in Mysteries, whose interview was completely chopped up to insinuate that he heard multiple explosions all at once. Or if you ignore that Mysteries’ whole demolition theory is completely debunked because A. their aspects of the WTC's controlled demolition are completely out of order and B. that chain of events wouldn’t take place over 90 minutes, but rather in 90 seconds like in ALL controlled demolitions. I could go on, like how 9/11 Mysteries falsely claimed that Silverstein was awarded $7 billion (and completely ignore his rent and rebuilding payments), but it’s obvious that you didn’t watch the same movies I did.

Yeah, that’s why “9/11 was an inside job!” is the movement’s main slogan.

Not at all. The loved ones of victims have every right to ask any question they wish. I have all the respect in the world for the Jersey Girls and how they fought for an investigation in the first place. But these are not the same people yelling “9/11 was an inside job.” Sure, I know the We Are Change kids parade around a couple of family members, but I think that’s a matter of playing on these poor victim’s emotions, giving them a false sense of hope that there will be justice since no one was held accountable by the 9/11 Commission Report. Nonetheless, the victims’ families are not leading the movement. The last I checked Jones (both of ‘em), Avery, Bermas, Fetzer, and whoever else you want to add to that list did not know any victims.
